Steadfast

Today during my yoga I decided to face a big window and find a focal point outside. There are many trees and in the midst of them is a little branch sticking out of the ground, looking like a tiny tree with leaves of it’s own. My eyes naturally rested on this branch. It seemed so small, so insignificant among all the taller, thicker trees.

I was doing the balance pose (not sure what it is called) where you place one foot on your thigh and balance on the other foot, hands in prayer position. Now all the times before, even in class, I have had trouble with my balance in this pose. But today, as I looked at this little branch, the wind blowing fiercely around it, all the leaves giving way to the wind, this little branch held steadfast, as I did, not letting any other thoughts or distractions in. I held this pose for longer than I ever have.

It reminded me of life and how all the worries of life try to sway us from the peace that is inside us. And like this little branch, we can hold steadfast and not be swayed. Then we will find heaven.

Namaste,
Robin
