Surya Deva Tolerance Day!

I have read many threads where other posters, in response to a post by Surya start saying things like “Surya you are so intolerant”, or “Surya you are so offensive”, and I am startled. I often have to read back through Suryas posts to try to find what has prompted such angry sounding comment. Often I don’t find anything.

Surya speaks the truth as he sees it. I don’t always agree with what he says, but I don think that’s grounds or abuse or disdain.

Surya does not sugar coat the pill. Some times I think that people believe they are swallowing the pill of yoga, but it comes with so much sugar coating, the pill is not even there anymore. Suryas pills are hard to swallow no doubt. But do not blame the doctor for the medicine.

I think Surya is brash. Once, and once only I have read something he has written and thought it was truly offensive. But I have read many, many truly offensive posts made against him.

Surya has a sense of humour, and is able to laugh at himself, but these aspects of his posts are often overlooked, whilst people pick out something they can interpret as bad.

Surya is very knowledgable in many areas, and has illuminated me on many things. He also has opinions I do not concur with. These I read with interest, and move on.

I believe if some people could get past being offended, there could be some very good discussion here rather than the repeated childish playground attacks on him that come from certain quarters. I’m naming nobody in particular. If the hat fits…

The VAST majority of what Surya gives out is barely disputed Hindu/Yogic thought. The VAST majority of the rest is Hindu/Yogic thought held by at least a substantial portion of Hindus. This is the religion section, so the truly vast majority of his postings are fully appropriate.

This forum is much richer for the presence of Surya, who always posts his honest opinion. I would greatly miss his participation. One day I would like to have the energy to lock horns with him on some subject, and would look forwards to being soundly thrashed in the arena of debate. But I’m afraid I fear getting involved as I do not wish to attract the attention of the forum hecklers whose only interest seems to be to take offense where none is meant, and to turn debate into childish bickering. And these people seem to lurk on Suryas threads looking for every opportunity. I’m naming no names, but if the hat fits… The only thing I’ll say explicitly is that I do not include the OP in this!
One sure truth is the ongoing debate about what is the truth. From all the discussions here on that, one thing is clear - Truth is really based on one’s personal perceptions, values, experiences, culture, and existence. Even quantum science is having a hard time defining the truth, so now they bow to the theory of many truths.

Even SD knows this to be true :)
And yet, there are also situations in which one thing is correct and others are wrong. And Surya Deva’s arguments on other Abrahamic religions is one of them. Of course you could requote your statement above in response to this so it won’t really matter what I say. Believe what you will.

All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.

Yes. Your argument that truth it itself is subjective is also an interpretation.
I have no doubt in my mind that if we met in real life you would physically try to harm me. You will either report me as a “terrorist” or get me outcasted. It was people like you, who held vendettas against people, that were behind the witch trials.

Nonetheless I accept you as you are and only hope you get better soon. You are full of hatred, and you need to deal with it.
Then accept this, you are wrong about me I have studied terrorists and terrorism and you are not a terrorist nor practicing terrorism. And if I meant you in person I seriously doubt I would waste my time on you at all. You have no need to fear me.

I cannot believe that this thread has been here the whole time & I had no idea.

(As I watch Arise!: The Sub-Genius Recruitment Video. I watch it every New Years Eve since I became a member of the Church of the Sub-Genius years & years ago. It reminds me to not take man-made religions so seriously...
Praise BoB!!!)

The Middle Way, the Short-cut to SLACK!!!

I have something very nice to say about SD. He drove me away from yoga and I found kettlebells, and now I’m in the best, kick ass shape of my life, and everyone comments on how good I look!!

lol

Surya Deva tolerance day, LoL ! He is a good guy though. I always enjoy reading his posts. It appears like he is the person who literally electrified these forums. A traditional “Hindu debator,” truth-savant, or a warrior with gleaming sword - these are the analogies fitting for him. If every community in the world had people like SD, our human world would have been purified from cultural myths and dominating symbolism.

I also sense that he is the incarnation of a very spiritual person, who in this life, catalyzes his read-knowledge to destroy what needs to be destroyed!

And I agree with the idea that at a point, you need to write a book :stuck_out_tongue:

Ironically, teitan has since been banned for being a colossal bag of douche.

Question for SD:

Can you do a headstand and/or a handstand?
Question for SD:

Well?

Headstand
Headstand :D
Bale Bale!

Good. You wouldn’t want an old white Christian man to show you up.

But I can sort of do a handstand too. I’m still using a wall for help, but I can occassionally balance for a few seconds.
