Teacher Training Course

Hello everybody,

I am looking for some input to help me make a decision in regards to a Teacher Training Course.

There are two separate courses that I am looking at, one is Yoga Alliance certified, the other International Yoga Federation.

Is one ‘better’ than the other?

In actual fact, teaching is a long term dream, as I have not been practicing for very long, I am really looking at doing the course as a means to further my own understanding of yoga. However, if in the future I do feel that I am drawn to teaching, I would like to be sure that I have the best qualifications possible.

Kind regards,

Kitty.

Hi Kitty,

I PERSONALLY would be less concerned about who certified them as I would about:

  1. Duration of the training
  2. Who are the primary teachers
  3. What is covered in the training and to what depth
  4. Other variables like the above

There are some AMAZING teacher trainings certified by the mentioned entities and there are some that are lacking.

I’d talk to previous students, find out who the primary teachers are and research their background, etc.

No matter what, I wish you all the best with your training!

Thank you for your response, and well wishes David.

Yes, you are right, the most important issue is to find the class that suits me best, and has great teachers.

I suppose that I was a bit confused about the ‘politics’ of these certifying bodies, and how important they are. But from your post, I am gathering that in yoga community they are not really all that important.

Thank you once again, to you and all other contributors on this board, I thoroughly enjoy spending time here.

yours sincerely,

Kitty.
