Teaching a high school gym class yoga?

I’m a senior in high school, & I wanted to teach a freshman class yoga.

So I wanted to know

  1. What exercises should I start them with (for basketball they did 3 laps, stretches, pushups & sit ups)
  2. Basic yoga poses I could show them?
  3. Fun stuff to keep it interesting
& 4. How to test them on the pose?

I have 4 days to teach them & I really need help.
I’m new to the forum so please be nice (:

Nice has to be balanced with truth:-)
So welcome to the community, we hope you remain, contribute, and find benefit here.

Yoga is a vast set of very powerful tools. One of those tools are the physical postures. Within that realm there are elements that must first be brought into one’s own body, one’s own living, before they can be imparted to others.

The second point here is that teaching is something one learns to do. Surely you’ve had great teachers, and surely you’ve had some not-so-great teachers. It’s a skill one cultivates. Poor teachers do more harm than good - though all may have the best of intentions.

When we teach something we ourselves do not do we lack integrity and often are hypocritical (being hypocritical is lacking integrity so…). Likewise when we have something we do that we withhold and do not teach, we are also lacking integrity - assuming the students are ready for said teachings.
