Teaching private one on one sessions

Hi, I am a 500-hour trained teacher who has about four years of solid experience teaching classes to groups but not with private sessions. Can you explain what’s different in terms of what and how you teach a private? I feel comfortable assessing the overall needs of a group and then preparing ahead of time, the sequence/themes I will incorporate into a class. I have on occasion taught just one student, but I basically just taught as if there was a whole class there. My training did not cover anything about privates. Any advice, or books you recommend, to help me feel more equipped would be most appreciated. Thank you!

First speak to the client find out what he/she wants/expects from private classes.

If the client has injuries or health problems then you design a program that will help.

If he/she is just a beginner and wants private classes just to get started then design a program that builds towards what you are teaching in group classes.

Perhaps the client is experience but lacks motivation for self practice and just needs a teacher to motivate and encourage…

The first session with a client would be mostly for you to asses him/her and to discuss the aims/goals.

A very good way to get started is to practice…
Practice on some friends first free of charge to get the idea…if you have any yogi friends get them to makeup a story and be a make believe client and give you feedback…practice…practice…
