Teen with scoliosis

thank you for responding to my inquiry about my 13 year old’s scoliosis. My daughter is bright and understands the seriousness of her condition and the timeliness of acting upon it. She just began menstruating this month; her risser scale is still 0 so we expect a
significant growth spurt this year. We recently returned from Montreal
Canada where she has been fit with a revolutionary dynamic body brace by the inventor of the brace. It will require follow up visits so our available traveling time and money are pretty much tapped out right now. A customized yoga program could augment the bracing and provide us with the ultimate desired results. Again, considering our situation and that this is such a critical year for her, I wondered if you would contemplate the following. I used to teach fitness, stretch and dance at a health spa and resort and have practiced yoga for years. Would you consider me videoing Rebecca according to your specific instructions and viewing her x-rays in order to put together
a personal program for her? I am confident that I could work with verbal or written instructions. If you have never done that and are not certain
whether it would work, I would be willing to do all of the above as an
experiment with no commitment from you as afar as actually following
through if it appeared too difficult. I look forward to hearing from you again. A

I am willing to do what can be done this way, if we cannot be together. I have done some sessions this way. vhs Videotape should include some extra motions that will help me assess her. Video should be in 2-piece swimsuit or similar outfit so I can see her figure with spine and hips. I would also like to see your posture too Andrea to see what she might have inherited from you. Ideal will be for me to see her standing from all sides, forward bending from standing, standing side bends, view from behind as she lifts each leg with knee coming above hip level, and views of what is uncomfortable motions and what motions make her feel best. X-rays would be helpful too and MD written assessment too. If you would like to monitor her progress you could purchase a scoliometer from me for $40 that will give you a tool to see how the spinal curves are changing. This tool is an alternative to x-ray and is fairly accurate for home or yoga therapy assessments. It is described on my website bookstore. Namaste
