I have been doing the Five Tibetan Rites for a couple of weeks or so, and I am enjoying them. I’d heard of them through the original book by Peter Kelder about 20 years ago but was stymied at the 1st rite since I get dizzier spinning than average-so I gave it all up. Through the glory that is youtube, and certain tips from a companion book to the original I just read, I am now able to spin easily the requisite 21x with no problem. And the other 4 rites are not difficult at all; though I’m sure my fluidity,breathing etc. will get better with practice. I use them as a warm-up for my yoga or a substitute if I have little time ( fortunately that’s only happened once ). It’s too early to tell palpably but I do feel maybe a tad bit better than usual, though I do feel very good usually. I don’t have a specific question in mind, just wondering what this august body may know about something I’m new at. BTW, I Love yoga. It’s been very good to me. Namaste

Hi, I’ve been teaching The Five Tibetans for 9 years. They certainly are very good for increasing energy. I’ve incorporated core stability training with them and a greater focus on breathing. There is a problem with collapsing the lumbar and cervical spine in the original book which can cause back or neck ache in those with previous injury or those prone to it. There are modifications to protect yourself if affected including (in particular) incorporating core stability. Quite a lot of people are affected by the dizziness and I have written an article based on natural remedies, tips and hints you can do to avoid it.
