The more you age the wiser you get?

Do you think this is true?

Yes and no. I know old people that think I should change my ways and except Jesus. On the other hand, I’d like to think we sometimes really learn through life experiences.

CM,

For me wisdom is not necessarily invested in a person. For me it is the development of an inner attitude towards that which comes to you in life and how you accept that which comes to you. For example, I have experienced great wisdom from my cocker spaniel in teaching me downward facing dog a while ago. I was humbled one day by her wisdom when she showed me the correct way of doing it while I was practicing it at home. I was in downward dog, when suddenly she came up next to me and did a perfect stretch for me to see. I could have ignored it and though it is just a dog, but on closer inspection I realised my problem, corrected my arms and shoulders and for the first time I enjoyed the asana.

Wisdom is definitely what life offers us in exchange for our youth. Any of us might accept or reject the offer.

On the other hand, there’s no fool like an old fool.

I think some people get wiser with age because they are more open to learning as they age.

I have met some older people “stuck in their ways” and are not very wise. Stuck in their meanness, ignorance and entitlement. So I think it just depends on the person - age is nothing but a number.

My initial response is absolutely not. Most people tend to harden their shell instead relax and learn. On the other hand, i think the experiences they are getting, even if it’s from remaining a blind ignoramus, is essentially making them wiser. They’ll just harden and harden until the crack. I’ve seen many miserable elderly people. How much wisdom can one have if they’re bitter and resentful?

Also, i’m very young. Though I feel I see things more clearly than many of my elders, teachers, and authority figures. I also feel wisdom is something you’re born with, more of less. It’s very intrinsic, not something that can be really be cultivated.

lol:))))

Kinda agree… but have you ever seen people listening with their mouths open to 20 y.o words of wisdom?? (Except story about young Jesus and delay lama)

I asked, because I’m young and I look 10 years younger than I am. Some people look at me and with half smile say : you are probably to young to understand that/ do this/ think particular way…

I guess it suppose to piss me off:) ?
