The Stomach Chakra

Hello!
I am rather new to the chakras and I have a question.

Quite recently, I noticed the ability to focus on a point in my solar plexus, and when I do so there’s what seems to be an electric feeling that spreads from it. It’s like a small surge of adrenaline, that makes my stomach warm and my heart beat a little faster. I am curious if I found ( or it found me ) the Solar Plexus chakra. Another idea was that I somehow have the ability to activate the adrenal glands at will.

I read a few sites that explained the chakra and it’s purpose. Most of them relate to my state of being very well. I tend to daydream a lot because I can feel so lost in this world some times. The more I try to find myself, or my center, the more contrast and questions arise. I love the contrast however, it’s a beautiful thing and I have learned beautiful things from it. But again, my mind tends to be weighed down by rampaging thoughts, and seeking what the right way to feel about something is.

Any response is greatly appreciated, and if there are questions, or something that was left out that you would like to know, please ask.

I have some experience with chakra and want to say this without challenging your experiences. The best person to judge whether the Manipura chakra is activated, is your teacher and if you don’t have one, you are perhaps on a ‘self-help’ course that is not advisable. Your teacher will take into consideration your method of practice, the place, the duration, regularity, your ability to perceive the chakra and several other aspects. It is slightly intriguing that you are not mentioning muladhara and/ or swadhisthana chakras that provide sustainable energy to manipura, since initially it is extremely difficult to center prana directly at any chakra.

You are also saying that you are new to this and that leads to my speculation that you may be mis-reading the simple metabolic actions and physiological reactions. (There are known cases of student doctors who think they are ‘victims’ of each disease that they read about.)

In my opinion, chakra activation is a milestone one reaches on the spiritual path after years of hard work that results in awareness of the astral body to which chakras belong. Activation also requires a purified physical environment around it. Each chakra has a different constitution. Manipura chakra, for example, is wholly negative in most individuals as it stores all the fears right from our cave-life. Hence, it is usually a great challenge to first make it positive and then expect better results. The key is to devote completely to the practice and not to “expect” results that may induce your mind to play tricks.

I do come with zero experience. I have no teacher, not do I practice yoga. This was just a forum I found that looked promising. I come as an average Joe. I don’t know if what I feel is spiritual in nature, or something physical.

Suhas hit the nail right on the head.

I used to suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and do you know from whence they originated? My solar plexus.

This was always painful and very sore to even touch. I also used to experience weird sensations arising from there.

I knew it had absolutely nothing to do with my Manipura Chakra and everything to do with a Central Nervous System that was totally out of whack.

With proper breathing and simple biofeedback techniques, I was able to control this, activating/de-activating my adrenal glands at will.

Chakras do not exist in the Annamaya Kosha, so you are really just reading too much into this.
