Thoughts on aromatherapy

I am new to the forum and have enjoyed very much reading the threads from you all. After searching through the forum, I realized that I have not yet seen anything on meditation with any props or aromatherapy use. What are your thoughts on using aromatherapy with classes? I would like to know the most recommended form of aromatherapy, whether it be incense or candles etc.

Well, know your audience first and be sure it is acceptable to all in the class and whoever might be using the room following your class. Being allergic to any kind of scent is one of the reasons I practice at home.

It’s kinda off beat, but worth mentioning that an instructor once mentioned to me that she use to use aromatherpy in class, when using sage, she didn’t know a student had post tramtic stress disorder and the smell triggered her into having an episode. While I’m sure some dealing one on one with individual might find it a good time to work out some deep seeded emotions, I imagine in a group scenario it would be difficult.
