Tired

Hi guys, I’m looking for a morning routine to help me start the day. Recently I’ve felt very tired, not ill or depressed just tired and I can’t understand why. Any advice greatly appreciated

I should add I’m 24, not over weight, reasonably fit, have worked a late shit for the last 6yrs, tend to do yoga in the evening or after work before bed.

Thanks

doing yoga with a tired body will make you more tired. I think what you need is rest and some easily digestible nutritional foods or drinks for someday to regain strength.

laura, the five tibetans is a short series, you may like that

Laura obviously it is difficult to assess what may benefit you but i feel doing yoga will more than likely benefit you,its just finding the right pose, breath, this requires knowledge, experience and a trained/skilled teacher, are you familiar with recuperative postures ? are you mentally or physically tired ? What routine do you follow ? Night shifts are extremely challenging as well.
You may as well like to do a spell check

Thank you all for the feedback

Shivoham - I think you are right, although I feel good after doing yoga and sleep well I’m perhaps making myself more tired the next day.

justwannabe - Thanks thats ideal, I think I will try meditate before bed and practice the the five tibetans when I get up. Hopefully that will perk me up a bit

charliedharma - I think I’m both mentally and physically tired. I’m not sure what came first but I’m feeling heavy and lacking the energy to make myself do things that I would usually enjoy. I don’t know the recuperative postures so any surgestions would be great. I currently would do sun salutations to start and then I move on to postures that I feel I need at the time in more of the Yin style. I’m sorry that I made spelling mistakes and must sound rather clueless.

Thanks

Laura you dont sound clueless ,and you certainly dont need to apologise your reference to your night shit made me smile, I can be puerile! But I am working on it
What I was suggesting was that yoga includes all sorts of postures and attitudes and within the full array of tools that yoga has to offer us there are plenty of poses that are appropriate to rejuvenate rather than deplete ,these are best learnt from a teacher. However you could just lie with your legs up the wall for 10-20 minutes (as long as you dont have high blood pressure or heart condition) supta baddha konasana or supta sukhasana come to mind done with support for the spine and hips knees ie bolster ,blanket or foam bricks, but again without seeing you it is very difficult to help and a skilled teacher could help. But yoga should resource and not deplete, but as I said the right tools ,Actions need to be applied, the trick is to know what they are so the self inquiry continues.Lying quietly with the spine supported and the chest open is intelligent yoga , most find it challenging I suspect.Im probably not being much help but thought I would add my bit.Where do you live I might be able to reccomend teacher in your area. You can e-mail me.You do sound as though you are being wise in the practice listening to what your body is telling you.

This may sound odd, but have you considered trying Jala Neti before your asana practice?

Even for doing yoga there must be a certain level of strength. If we go below this line yoga can become a problem. In my experience, yoga have almost destroyed me.To find the right practice and the right amount of time we may spend for the practice is tricky. It takes time and experience for that. So the safest option is to have small sessions in the beginning and have patience. Be ready to face problems. After all spiritual path is an adventures path

Ckeck your biorythms as well. They explain usually a lot.

Thanks all, I’ve learnt from this thread  The Jala Neti looks interesting and effective. Just reading up on biorythms thankyou. I have 2days now off so will hopefully perk up soon
