It’s subtle but I seem to experience a more relaxed and thereby more flexible belly when I curled my tongue back even further than the upper pallete. My scorpion feels deeper. I notice it because I don’t do it that often- but then that’s the result when I do- especially noticeable in the scorpion and headstand- so far. Thought I’d follow up on the idea. Hope you all are having good lives. Namaste
Rereading Siva here gives me more direction that I’ve used so far- I’ve just done it without the sucking and drawing in the neck etc to the spine as he said- I tried for just an instant and I believe I see what he means. Namaste
visualizing the spine as a hollow tube extending from its bottom to the brain, jaws relaxed tongue tasting the roof, makes I feel good in sirsasana, full of prana.
ive found faster and bigger drops come of amrit soma or rasa when tongue lock is further back and when pranayama is applied… ie being aware of the tattvics incoming outgoing place of the breathe in the nose itself… this is a science all but almost forgotten… there is immediate quieting of the mind when done right and a state of bliss, joy,or samadhi stages are achieved. i have not done head stands this is in vipasana meditation position. with full attention to posture and breathe… and tongue.
check this… soma drops… and the tongue lock.
I’d love someone to roll the tongue out in the headstand like a grotesque animal:)))

agreed. the flat tongue position stimulates pranic flow while the far back position stimulates the production of soma immediately before and during nirvikalpa samadhi.
Hello, futurehumandestiny , thanks, for the feedback on the post… this is the first i am learning of the particular samadhi nirvikalpa in connection with this lock/ meditation. thanks for sharing that… i would love to ask a few questions…and i saw some of your vids on you tube… very nice presentation. Much appreciated. i cant wait to check out more…
Amrit (Sanskrit: अमृत; IAST: amṛta) is a Sanskrit word that literally means “immortality”, and is often referred to in texts as nectar. The word’s earliest occurrence is in the Rigveda where it is one of several synonyms of soma, the drink which confers immortality upon the gods. It is related etymologically to the Greek ambrosia[1], and it carries the same meaning. It has various significances in different Dharmic Traditions. “Amrit” is also a common Hindu first name for men; the feminine is “Amritā”.
…In yogic philosophy (see yoga, Hindu philosophy) amrit is a fluid that can flow from the pituitary gland down the throat in deep states of meditation. It is considered quite a boon: some yogic texts say that one drop is enough to conquer death and achieve immortality.

i’ve often wondered whether the translation was right/oversimplified.
i think by conquering death they don’t mean “live forever” in the same body.
what do you think? i think they mean immortal/immune/in control of the wheel of rebirth/suffering.
regarding Asuri remarks on the drops to conquer death, perhaps these “wisdom drops” confer the ability to perceive/realize being born and death as illusions… we are really never born nor die…the soul immort … we identify ourselves with body, that is the grand illusion…at death, one would be able to realize that its the discursive mind that phenomenoalizes everything, therefore immortal we are… its a leap…
