Trouble with the diamond pose

Hello everyone! I’m having trouble doing the diamond pose. The pose where you rest with your shins on the flour and heels under your butt. I can touch my toes fairly easily and I can do the diamond pose but it takes about ten minutes for me to loosen up to get there. Even then it isn’t completely comfortable. Then after about ten minutes of not stretching, I tighten back up again and have to start all over. I’m also a bit bow legged with about three inches of air between my knee caps when standing with my feet together.

Hello back to you!

Are you talking about Vajrasana (Thunderbolt)? If so…

Being bow legged could definitely impact the pose. But another likely culprit are the groins. (hip flexors) Try Supta Baddha Konasana in a more relaxed state, with some props (pillows, bolsters or blocks) under your knees/thighs for support.

What are you doing to loosen up before attempting the pose?

Yeah the thunderbolt. And all I do to warm up for that is touch my toes starting with my feet together for about 10 seconds, then slightly spreading my feet apart, doing the same thing, until my legs produce about a 90 degree angle.
