I’m booked to go to Tulasidalam for the YTTC in July. I’m basically looking to deepen my own practice and have a really solid home practice. I’ve done a bit of research and have only turned up positive comments and accounts of the ashram and teachers. Has anyone been to this ashram or done the YTTC there? Anything in particular I should know?
I did my yoga teacher training at Tulasidalam in 2005. And have visited the ashram twice since during my visits to India. The most particular thing about doing the course there is that its the right guidance for personal integration and transformation. The classes are well balanced with asanas, pranayama, kriyas, yoga theory, philosophy. All these are explained on the basis of modern science. The talks go into understanding of even genetics with yoga outlook. You really need openness of understanding. Do not try to approach on a intellectual basis as the guidance is more of the experiential level.
Sinduma can appear very stern but thats fine … she is a core of love and strength.
I am signed up for the Karma Yoga program in August. Could you tell me a little about the surrounding area? I know this sounds very ‘Western’ of me, but I need to be able to communicate with my family back in the US and want to know about access to phones, email, etc. Many thanks.
The village near the ashram has all the facilities of internet, phones and banks. There is wifi in the ashram accessible if you have a laptop, but most of the time its not connected due the the distance range problems. Tuesdays or Wednesdays I don’t remember sorry… we had a few hours break in the afternoon when we went to the village.
Thank you for the information. Do you know how the Karma yoga differs from the 200 hour? I already have a 200 hour training done in US and in India but want to deepen my practice. The facebook page doesn’t look it has been updated since Feb!
There is Tulasidalam Yoga Teacher Training, a open group page in facebbok where you can meet many members of the ashram.
Hi… how was the course in July and August? Is Sinduma doing good as usual? I am missing the place and her presence.
Yoga teacher training courses given on the basis of karma yoga? that’s wonderful! I would really like to know more details and how it has helped in the way of life?
Sorry, but I have more questions on this yoga teacher training program at Tulasidalam.
What is the teacher student ratio? and also can you tell me about the support after the course is done? They say its a life time program, so how does that work?
I was there in May. its 5 students:2 teachers.
Its a life long program like mother-child relation…that’s how I like to see it.
Hello charliotte,
The yoga programs at Tulasidalam is guided into the karma yoga levels. What I have understood from the teachings there is the 1st 4 steps of ashtanga which the hatha itself helps in purification in physical, mental and pranic levels. The awareness that is evolving in the practicing yogi transforms the in-look of life.Karma Yoga, the path of ‘inaction in action’, is the foundation of pratyahara levels of ashtanga supporting the evolving yogi into the steps of Raja yoga.
As for the support after the course, it is most effective and positive.
