Upavista Konasana 45 minutes

I saw a video that said if you want to work towards gaining the flexibility needed in order to attain padmasana you can do Upavista Konasana for 45 minutes 5 - 6 days a week. Does this seem okay? I’m not over stretching, the posture is comfortable.

It’s not a way I would teach to a student, per se, nor is it a way I’d work in my own practice but it may deliver the goods as you outline them.

Upavistha Konasana does work abduction, however it does not particular work external rotation so to me it’s a “less than half” solution.

I personally prefer a more robust hip series AND a working toward something where that work is progressive, mindful, and gradually incremental.

I can attain padmasana with ease, but upavistha konasana is a very difficult posture for me.

Same here. I don’t think Upavistha Konasana alone is a magic key to opening the door of Padmasana.

Are you sure it’s 45 minutes and not 4 to 5 minutes? I would agree with IA that a hip opening series would be preferable.
