Viniyoga question

I am thinking about Viniyoga, can anyone tell me about it.

You see I went and injured myself and I keep reinjuring myself and I am rather tired of it and I am looking to recover. I was looking at various yoga styles to do this and I like the sound of Viniyoga

what specifically do you want to know?

For general information, you can probably just go to the American institute of Viniyoga site. Or look at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram website.

Thanks, I am looking to strengthen my knees and lose weight.

But it does not matter since the only viniyoga teacher in my area is 50 miles from my office and I would have to leave right after work to get there and then go home 40 miles after class, I doubt I shall be trying viniyoga soon

Agian thank you

Walter - Before you go, check the KHYF website to see if there are any KHYF certified teachers in your area. Their teaching style is very therapeutic as well, having studied through the same lineage as AVI teachers.

Viniyoga simply refers to a style of yoga that adapts yoga to the individual. All teachers trained by the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim and yoga therapists trained by the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation will teach ‘viniyoga’ even if they don’t call it that.

Hope that helps a little

To strengthen knees a brisk walk is always good as a complement. And not with running shoes , should be a trekking shoes with a little harder sole( if summer walking shoes) With softer shoes there is no stability and knee will not be fixed. This winter i used my comfy salomon gtx then suddenly i could not sit in meditation without pressure on my knee, so i switched back to trekking shoes and slowly it became well again.

It is possible that just making a change in what shoe you wear, will also make it better without brisk walks. Even though in a slower pace.

Is that Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation?

If it is the closest teacher to me is about 3 to 4 hours away
