Welcome to the Gaza Strip -- Your new Religion Forum

Greetings, Namaste, and Shalom.

I didn’t use other forms of greetings because they are inferior.

This forum is dedicated to religious discussion. I look forward to coming in here on occasion and weeping for humanity. This forum will be very lightly moderated. What does that mean? I don’t know yet but:

 1. If you complain about how someone is hateful and not accepting of your religion, it will likely fall upon deaf ears because that is how many in the world of religion are, if not worse. I will not protect you from reality.

 2. If you complain about someone personally attacking you in this forum, it will likely fall upon deaf ears because that is how many in the world of religion are, if not worse. I will not protect you from reality.

 3. If you complain about how someone is not respectful of you or your opinions, it will likely fall upon deaf ears because that is how many in the world of religion are. I will not protect you from reality.

 4. If you try to change someone who has no interest in being changed, go try and knock down a brick wall with your head instead. It’s basically the same thing. But don’t complain to me when you bump your head.

 5. If you jump into an alligator pit and get bit, don’t complain to me.

If you want to debate and discuss religion, fine. But I will not protect you from the reality of it. If you cannot handle the reality of what comes with religious debate, I suggest you not partake.

If you try to bring religious debate into the other forums via tangents, I’ll likely confine you to this forum.

Let your true colors shine through…

Wow David…does this mean what I think it means?
No…wait… I’m going to have to bite it and re-read some of my own previous posts.

I don’t know. What do you think it means?

i just now spotted this announcement myself. i think this is great plan! thank you for putting some careful thought into all of this – it really shows. and i welcome having chance to begin and share in threads without seeing them “overrun,” as well as giving everyone a space to post what they obviously care to post and reply about. it is a win-win plan from what i can see at this point.

i believe i understand your points of participation and moderation in the religion clearly, but i have a question about postings outside this religion forum: if you see a thread being directed from the OT toward religion that is outside the religion forum, should we report those posts to you using the <!> function? and what then? will you then move them over as the foundational post for a new thread in the religion forum? would you share your plan on this situation?

thank you and cheers to you, david!

May I also ask what “confine you to Religion” forum means? Do you mean keep someone from posting elsewhere on the boards if they are redirecting thread to a religious discussion?

I think this is an inspired idea David. A place for everything and everything in its place. Thank you.

That will be one of those case by case situations. Sometimes it’ll be a wait and see attitude. Other times I might split or copy the thread over here to the religion forum and see if we can get the original thread back on track.

And yes, please use the report function.

That’s exactly what I mean. The forum software allows me to, on a member by member basis, determine which forums a member is able to see. If a member does nothing but steer threads in other forums towards religion, then one possibility is that I don’t let them interact in any forum except this one.

Blimey Crikey ok smiley face watch me slip up

Just a reminder to read the rules regarding this forum.

If anyone here would like me to remove their ability to see this forum, simply PM me.

Thanks.

Why aren’t discussions about reincarnation and auras considered “religious”?

Most of the regular postings seem like religious discussions from my perspective.

David that sound very wise man.I bow to you .

I jumped into an alligator pit and got hurt…Help me David!

Late thanks for the religion forum by the way!

No. Just bored. Stuff’s getting really old.
