What imprison us from the truth is what we believe is truth

Belief is a prison of reason, for what reason one seek freedom?

Beliefs are simply likes and dislikes of the mind, everyone?s mind is different therefore everyone?s beliefs are different, unlike beliefs which are relative Truth is not.

"belief is like a toy to a child only to past the time, intill then we are still children

Belief imprisons reason, wisdom comes to rescue

Reason imprisons direct perception, vision comes to rescue

Perception imprisons Soul, self-realization comes to rescue

(Self-realization is that Soul can never be imprisoned.)

The term Belief implies following existing thoughts and no further analysis of the object. The intellect on the other hand implies accepting these thoughts after multidimensional analysis of things, rising above the cages of belief, religion and self perception.

I like how Suhas has described it. Yes belief is definitely a prison, and reason releases us from that prison. Then reason itself becomes a prison, because one becomes caged into thinking in certain ways about thing and filtering everything according to this. Then direct perception(intuitive insight) is needed to release one from the prison of reason. Direction perception itself becomes a prison of the soul, because there is still a perceiver, percieved and perceiving distinction. Then self-realization is needed, the dissolution of that distinction, to release oneself from the prison of direct perception.
Then one is completely free.

Experience is the vehicle that delivers us to ‘knowing.’ therefore, beliefs are for people who want to know but fear the personal experience.

we should have compassion for them and perhaps even comfort them.

Unfortunately there seems no sense trying to help someone that doesn?t thirst help, just as help that doesn?t prevent need for further help is fruitless, perhaps to awaken and realize unity of true inner nature is absolute compassion.

To begin with, if we are all here to pursue “truth” then we all must acknowledge that that anything which man creates will bring us further from the truth, this includes words, belief, etc. It is the minds preoccupation with all that man creates which separates us. Clarity is achieved once we connect to source and are able to witness the many layers of belief, ideas, and have purified our nervous system. That being said, belief is not all that bad. It is a box, and we all are soooo desperate to get outside the boxes we are conditioned by, but once we liberate ourselves from the box, we create a void; and because we do live on the material plane which is subject to duality that void will always be filled. If you meditate on love and light it will bring forth that which is not love and light for you to witness and let go. So, belief is a box, but it is also an opportunity to engage in the material plane and make aware choices about what it is we want to believe. Indulge in belief just be conscious of your boxes. Belief is part of our conscious participation with creation at large.
