What is scarier/difficult? kapotasana or drop back urdva dhanurasana?

I realize the full pose of kapotasana is more difficult…

The reason I am asking is with assistance of my teacher 3 months ago i tried drop back to urdva dhanurasana and it was a scary experience. i did not drop all the way because of pinching in my spine. so i knew i was not ready yet…

But yesterday I did kapotasana drop back and it felt great with assistance… I’m contemplating attempting drop back urdva dhanurasana again.

What are your experience on either posture?

Are you standing and then drop back? Why cant you just lay on the floor and then go to that position?

It sounds you are beginner in this position and that you want to drop back and this results in pressure in your spine. This is not good. Can i suggest to start the easy way and strengthen your spine to begin with.

Yes standing then dropping back to urdva dhanurasana. I am far from being a beginner, and I do have strength in spine as well as good back bends. I am contemplating taking the next step in my back bends which is why I posted this.

Dropping back to urdva dhanurasana is an ashtanga primary series pose and a requirement to proceeding to the second series. Kapotasana is a second series pose. Kapotasana felt good to me so I am contemplating trying dropbacks to urdva dhanurasana(something I have from my attempts months ago).

I am here asking to ease my mind i guess and want opinions from practioners who know what I am talking about.
