What is the significance of the crown chakra in yoga?

I have been experiencing sensations at the top of my head during meditation lately. At times it almost feels as tho the top of my skull is missing and there is a kind of flow.

What is the interpretation of yoga for this phenomenon? What is recommended as far as how to proceed with this?

I think the crown Chakra is the field of pure potentiality or inner wisdom. The color is white or violet. I like when I have that feeling of flow and I just go with it.

Sorry I don’t have any expert or technical answers. I have had that feeling and I just go with it.

Learn about the 8th chakra, there is actually one about 2 feet above your head with more relations to the spiritual and divine. Perhaps you are ready to delve in further, do some reading on the chakras, or go get a reiki treatment!! Have fun, Zesa Yoga

Sounds very exciting! x

Crown chakra is the one connects a person to the cosmic energy, the Brahman. It can be activated only by leaving the earthly attachments, after being drawn into a very deep state of meditation. Zen master Shunryu Suzuki said that Gautama Buddha was among the few people who activated their crown chakras.

Crown chakra is rather insignificant “during” the Yoga practice, because attaining it “is” the fulfillment of Yogic practice. The best explanation I know for the awakening of this chakra lies in Buddha’s description of Nirvana, and Paranirvana - that is the state of forever Boddhisatva established with the death of body.

That is a great explanation of the crown chakra, thanks for sharing!!

Interesting x

hehehe, fwiw: for what it’s worth

if you have an active kundalini process, premature opening of the crown can cause general mayhem.

one can end up with a nervous system gone haywire.:frowning:
