What?s that?
No prize?
After all you did for them they didn?t give you an prize?
Someone as intelligent and good-looking as you?
A person who means well; didn?t push anyone?
You must be joking!
It?s a mistake they didn?t offer you an prize.
It goes to show you,
Not every egg goes in the basket.
If you were from the CBC they would give you an prize, for sure.
They are afraid of the press.
And where are you from?
No, you see, you don?t want to come from there.
If you come, say, from Northern Saskatchewan
They would most assuredly give you an prize.
They?re afraid of insulting the understood (wink).
No, no prize.

Don’t let it discourage you.
There is no reason for discouragement.
Once, Bodhidharma was received by Emperor Wu to inquire of the Truth. The Emperor said, “I have built many temples, shrines, meditation halls, and have poured all of my resources into helping the transmission of the Way. What merit shall I receive for my actions?”
Bodhidharma said, “No merit”.
The Emperor was confused. Inquiring further, he asked, “What is the holy teaching of Truth?”
Bodhidharma said, “Vast emptiness, nothing holy!”.
The Emperor was again dumbfounded by this statement. He asked, “If there is nothing holy, who is it who stands before me?”
Bodhidharma said, “I do not know”.
Interesting… Perhaps it’s more important to look within to seek some kind of reward than from others… That reward can be emotional, as in being proud of yourself or feeling extra good; or it can be more literal: giving yourself more time for your yoga practice or just giving yourself something that makes you happy.
"Perhaps it’s more important to look within to seek some kind of reward than from others… "
Whether one is clinging to the inner world or the outer world, there is no difference at all, in both cases one has become a slave. Whether the shadows you are chasing are outside, or whether you are running within yourself, these are two extremes. You can withdraw yourself from the outer world, remain hidden from the society and practice all kinds of ascetic methods - but if you are clinging to your own being and a discipline as an escape from reality, then it is not different at all than clinging to any number of outer objects.
That is why I have said that there is no reward to be found - whether inner or outer. Because whatever can be gained, is certain to be lost sooner or later, that is part of the natural flux of things. If one is interested in a dragon which pierces through even the highest heaven, then arrive to a space which is beyond gaining or losing.
