What Should a Good Sound Healing Teacher Training Include?

I've been researching different sound healing teacher training programs and realized that the quality of the curriculum can vary significantly. Some courses focus almost entirely on singing bowls, while others offer a much broader understanding of sound as a therapeutic and spiritual practice.

In my opinion, a comprehensive sound healing teacher training should include:

  • The science of sound, vibration, and resonance.
  • Traditional principles of Nada Yoga and the role of sound in yogic philosophy.
  • Practical training with singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, drums, and other healing instruments.
  • Voice practices such as mantra chanting, bija mantras, and vocal toning.
  • Chakra balancing techniques using sound.
  • Breathwork and meditation practices that complement sound healing.
  • How to design and facilitate one-on-one and group sound healing sessions.
  • Ethics, safety considerations, and best practices for practitioners.
  • Plenty of hands-on practice under experienced teachers.

I recently came across a curriculum that includes many of these elements and thought it was a useful example of what a well-rounded program can look like:

I'm curious to hear from others in the community:

  • What was the most valuable part of your sound healing teacher training?
  • Are there any topics you wish had been been covered in greater depth?
  • If you're already practicing, which skills from your training do you use most often?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and recommendations!
