Where to start and learn?

Hello everyone I know this is a very general question but I have interested in Yoga and would like to learn more and find out how to go about actually taking it up. If anyone could suggest anything I would be very willing to listen and check out any source you post back. Thank you for your time and take care!

Thelnhumans2013,
I have answered a similar query at the following link of this Yoga forum. It is about a guide to start a Yoga routine.
http://www.yogaforums.com/forums/f16/what-is-the-best-yoga-routine-9867.html
However, in your query, if you mean “where” by a place, you can go through Yoga directory to find out the nearest place where you can learn Yoga from.
It is recomended for a beginner to learn Yoga methods under guidance and supervison of a certified and experienced Yoga teacher.

Go to some beginners classes…that would be a great way to start.

Welcome to the next step in your Yogic journey.

I would recommend searching different types of Yoga, online, at your library or bookstore, and online descriptions from local studios. See if any of these immediately speak to you.

Then consider a class, many studios have free, karma, by donation introductory yoga to attract beginners into asana based, or other practices. Try a few styles to see if any resonate with you.

Please consider checking back in with how your journey progresses. Always nice to see fresh interpretations.

When student is ready;Teacher appears.
Nowadays there are many styles of yoga, and everyone is doing their work in one way or the other. To pick a yoga style, its all up to your requirements and your health conditions.
If you are looking for some workouts: go for power yoga , hot yoga. but if your serious learner and committed then try Ashtanga yoga or overall suitable for everyone Iyengar Yoga.

Love & peace

Thank you all for your responses. Personally about myself I am a person who is very much into my health ( basically a health nut ) and I am always looking for new ways to exercise and stay fit. I’m very interested in all aspects of Yoga but the first reason is for health and exercise. Thanks everyone and I will check back in.

Check out a authentic ashtanga vinyasa yoga then:)
