Which exercises?

Hey there!
So, straight to the point: I’ve got a slightly crooked spine, which thus results in pectus carinatum - my right ribcage is bumping out. I read that I should do yoga to improve my stance, so I was wondering what exercises should I do and how often? Or maybe I should seek professional help?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I’ve never done yoga before, so any advice will be appreciated

Hiya,

What you need to try and access is someone who can give you a personal practice that is suited to your body and your specific needs. Because you have a structural imbalance that is resulting in one side of your body being different from the other, you need to work with asymetrical postures so that you are working both sides equally. Doing “regular” postures in a symetrical way will only exacerbate the imbalance, as the side that is stronger will naturally be dominant over the side that is weaker. I would really recommend going to see someone to get a personal practice designed and then trying to fit in some daily practice at home as opposed to going to more generic classes. This way the practice is tailored to suit you as opposed to you trying to fit the practice.

Viniyoga is a really good place to start if you have someone who practices this near you… hope this is helpful!

Hey!
Thanks for the advice there.
I’ve got this book - ‘The complete bookf of yoga, harmony of body and mind’ Sri Ananda.
Could that be of any help?
Okay, so am I supposed to find a yoga teacher?

Cheers.
