spinal twisting is good if you have backpain BUT ATTENTION NOW if you do anything that hurts STOP it yoga is not about going fast but slow.

I guess you have pain in lower back maybe if so which side?

you also can do some cobra poses and leglifting when on stomach, to help you more i need more info though. as i assume its lower back if its upper pls tell me.

lighstays, as the lotusgirl posts stated we need more info from you. it depends where the pain comes from, how it hurts, have you seen a doctor for this? you want to bu sure that your discs are intact before attempting any yoga poses.

there i no quick fix in yoga. I’ve suffered back pain (shoulder blade, neck) for years, and yoga helped me, but all situations are different.

While there are many poses that are good for bulging disc’s, much depends on if the bulge is to front or back and a myriad of other “if’s”. There are also many poses that can potentially do more harm if not done precisely, so it is important to work with an experienced teacher. So please give us as much info as possible!

Let us not go in advance.

Chiropractor only crack your joints , reason why you get lockings is due to stiffness in muscles. So chiro is only temporary or acute solution.

I used to go to chiro and naprapath but since i start yoga i never need to go there anymore. Even massage cant help me now. when i get my stiffness in neck and shoulder i just do some asanas and they release.

I spend a lot on chiro when i was younger and it didnt help 10% of what yoga have done.

For me tall as i am it has to do with spine if spine is not good the rest will be suffering and how many in the west have strong backs to sit erect for sime time?

Not many.

Kapalabhati helps us to release blockages in all ways of body/mind.

No its on Lower Back Pain. Its on Middle of my Back…

Hello Light,

First it is important to note that just as our life choices can bring us back pain so too can our life choices remove it. However that which is built in 20 years does not often go away in 20 minutes.

There are many different sorts of back pain and its irresponsible for me as a yoga teacher to presume or assume or guess, then offer you suggestions that may or may not help. Since we do not get the blessing of working with you in person we need more information from you.

Low back pain can be something going on in the front that is only resulting in the back, or, occasionally, it can be something in the back:-)

Add to this that an ache and a sharp pain are different AND that an acute injury is different than a chronic one…

Asana (yoga postures) aren’t prescriptions that you pop in your mouth then 30 minutes later you don’t feel anything even though its still there. Yoga works differently.

As you told that you have middle back pain, I would suggest you that stretching is good way to get rid of back pain. It can be relate with your Head stretch, Back stretch, Leg stretch with stick exercise. Though stretching is very good for all muscles, which can make you relief with back pain.
