My name is Michele…I’m new
Are you asking why you shouldn’t practice yoga until 3-4 hours after eating?
Well, I believe it is because if you do, when practicing certain postions, you could choke and/or throw up food still in your stomach. Plus, my other theory is that when there is not food in your stomach, you receive better benefits. A lot of the asana’s help regulate and stimulate your thyroid, which helps you to lose weight. I am probably making a fool out of myself, but I beleive that it has something to do w/ your blood stream and where the food is and such. I don’t know…but most importantly, you don’t want to choke or throw-up during your practices.
Dear Yogis,
It is recommended that you evacuate your bowels before yoga practice and that you do not practice on a full stomach. Food in the digestive tract not only requires energy to process, but may cause nausea or discomfort with the bending, twisting and other movements. The bowels are similarly stimulated by a complete yoga practice and if they are not empty may lead to discomfort.

The other night I was feeling very bloated and my stomach was aching real bad. So I sat down in the basic sitting post for a few minutes, with my hands on my sids, holding me up straight, and to my surprise…within a half hour I felt sooo much better. My bloating was gone as was my stomach ache. I was relieved! Yoga really does help with bloating
