Is it “okay”? Is that really your question?
Sure it’s okay.
I’m gathering there’s some yoga classes at your gym and you’d like to get a sweat on before taking a yoga session. I suppose you can do that. You might smell in class and that could be invasive to others. But if you’re in a gym and everyone else is doing such a thing then you’d be blending in. A reason there is NO one right answer:-)
You will discover, through trial and error, whether your bod likes to work out before, after, or not at all in rleation to your yoga class. Let us know about your experiences please. Very interested to hear…
thanks inner,
I just go for a 15-20 minute jog in the morning before yoga. I am just looking at taking better care of my overall health and want to make sure I dont do anything counter productive
thanks again

Neil,
ideally it’s best to have a series of poses in the morning that awaken the body. There is fascia in the back body that needs attention as a result of eight hours of lying in bed. Running, while active, does not particularly help this opening and therefore doesn’t fascilitate a healthy, deeper work in your asana class.
What is needed is a gentle “whole body” approach.
This should include some gentle supine twisting, some work of the hip muscles (flexion, extension, rotation, adbduction, adduction)opening in the shoulders, neck, and chest, and movement of the feet in their three primary movements - flexion, extension, and circles.
Now ask yourself which of these you are getting with your workout. If, and I stress IF, your instructor is wise, you get this in the beginning of class. Sadly, and all too often, teachers do not provide this but jump into their sequencing for the day based on I don’t know what.
