Yin poses Possible cause of peritonitis?

Hello all forum users,

I just got out of hospital where I had to receive surgery to remove my appendicitis, related to an infection of the peritonitis. Apparently the infection started in the pelvic floor as the surgeon told me he cleaned most of the infection in that area.

I tend to have very tight hips and I often focus on stretching these parts of the body in priority, especially with long sessions of Yin Yoga hips series.

I was wondering if over stretching the tissues in these areas could have created an inflammation that could have turned into an infection?

That’s an unlikely scenario as you have presented it, though anything is “possible”.

OVER of anything is relative term. I have been telling in many similar questions in the forum that as an individual, we need to practice keeping our limitations in mind. If you cross that limit then any damage is possible depending on the tolerance of your body parts and organs.

Moderate activity always gives good results in safe zone.

Thank you for your replies,
When I said “over” I am assuming it could have been over stretched, though I don’t really feel it is going over a critical limit while I am doing it. Being naturally very stiff, I tend to “need” extra traction and action on the targeted muscle to feel it works, it’s difficult to explain, but it has been defining my practice for ever, and I have never had any injury before. Getting older and stiffer just made me wonder if it could be the case now.

To clarify …

The question, as I took it, was not “did I over do”. The question (to me) was “if I over do this thing could it result in this other thing?”. Since that was my perception (take) on the question my answer was a reply as to the connection between one action and a particular result - not to one action and any result.

Absolutely clear Gordon. Thank you

You’re welcome.
