Yoga and other stretching routines

Hi guys! Im new to this forum but I have a couple of questions about my yoga practice and other stretching programs that 'Im doing.

I am pretty new to yoga but really enjoy the practice. I got into it at first to improve my flexibility but now its become something more, a way to relax and become centered.

I have a goal to be able to perfrom the full splits ( front and side ) with out warm up by next summer, I can already pretty much do the side splits, but after a long warm up. My problem is that I tend to run out of time when it comes to my practice and splits stretching.
My yoga pratice that I do at home takes 45min-1hr, and my splits stretching takes 30min-1hr. Most of the time I have to skip my yoga pratice so I can do my splits stretches, and this pains me cause I do enjoy it.

Is there anyway I can put these two pratice together? And also cut down on time? Thanks

A good yoga stretching routine should help. I’m not sure what your doing. But I prefer p90x yoga stretch CD. After my first session I was more limber than I had ever been. A lot of pelvis stretches. Check it out,may or may not help. Only a suggestion.

It takes time massage helps also IMHO
I’ve also used the instruction provided in this CD for increasing the flexibility of my spinal cord. Aside from containing detailed explanation, the tutorial tells you possible mistakes you commit while doing pelvis stretches.
I would like to know about pelvic mistakes while stretching. Sooo much I dont know.

welcome to the forum!

  1. yoga is not a system for stretching.

  2. practicing yoga asanas might increase flexibility

  3. practice of asanas do not grantee full split

  4. check out about Paul Grilley yoga dvd, the dude explains tension vs compression and why some folks will never ever be able to do full split

Even contortionist warm up.

Is it possible to put 9 and 18 together and come up with 21?
I don’t see how one could add two things together and not have those two things be more than they are individually.

gordon

a gymnast is not a yogi
And vice versa imho
