Yoga Certification Help

Hi!

I’m trying to complete my certification.

One of the prerequisites is to contrast / compare the yoga sutras to another classical text (Bible/Bhagavad Gita/Koran/The Buddha’s Dhamma-Pada etc. I don’t want it to be too general - I’d rather pick a sutra and discuss how that specific sutra shows up elsewhere (if it does).

I could speak forever about this - so I need some help keeping it short! Any advice?
Thanks.

Pick the sutra in chapter one that says Intense focusing on anything you choose will bring you to a state of yoga. Compare it to… Anything! Easy answer.

Thanks!

The sutras are about relationship. Relationship with the self, with others, and with the cosmos. In so focusing, the sutras tell us that the mind must be addresses (first) in order to progress on the path. Ergo the natural contrast would be to the hatha yoga pradipika which says the opposite; the body must first be healthy in order to progress.

Compare means to place two things side by side to evaluate them. Contrast means to use one thing in order to see the other

Enjoy.
