Yoga for femoral hernia

Guys, I’d appreciate any advises on femoral hernia treatment and prevention.
I had it all the times…but now it became quite unmanageable. Usually lifting the legs and other abdominal exercises worked well. plus my aurvedic doctor advised to eat a lot of legumes.

Now i’m in pain and just wondering if you have any ideas on how to make it better or at least not get it worst…

thanks

It’s very rare for a femoral hernia to go away on its own and possible to lead to serious complication. I, personally, would turn to western medicine and a surgeon, especially if it’s getting worse. It’s one of the things they do quite well.

my thoughts-

for treatment : David .

for

prevention : omnamashivaya & just ignite the self power of healing.

Hello Monk,

Typically a hernia is when one thing pushed through another thing it’s not supposed to push through. In the case you mention it is often a tear in some containment tissue (thin muscle) and the subsequent emergence of that which is held in the lower abdominal cavity - small intestine for example.

Ergo any straining would be both unhelpful and detrimental. Further “pushing”, be it tangible (like asana or aggressive pranayama) or energetic (like emotions associated with force or will) is not advised.

I am not aware of specific remedy through the tools of yoga for the tear. It is possible, I suppose, with a gentle living, a stoked immune system, and proper meditation (breath, light, color) that such at thing could occur. However my rule of thumb is to not give advice to someone that they are not in a position to use. If you have these skills they would likely be effective. If you do not, then telling you to do them without the foundations for the doing would not only be lacking ethics (for me) but also quite frustrating for you.

I would suggest a highly trained therapeutics teacher if you want to stay solely on the path of yoga for remedy. Otherwise David makes a good point for those that want that sort of “repair”.

yep. absolutely! in case it will get pinched in between my muscles and I will not be able to push it back as I did before

Thank you IA… please expand what do u mean by light and color? If you have some experience with it please give me some advice. (I will not blindly follow if there is a possibility that it does not applies to my case)
You worked in athletics for your entire life…you should have some storries;)

things got more interesting… my guess is that something that makes hernia to pop out also pinches femoral nerve and parts of the leg that rely on femoral nerve go numb sometimes…

supine tree pose (!) and the shaktimat make things better…take the numbness away…suppose by some decompression of the nerve (?) swimming helps too…

I was able to push the hernia back in with my fingers… lucky me that it is not inflamed… or stuck… but it come back again when I stand for few hours

Funny that i have very strong abdominal muscles…

By “light” am am referencing use of the mind and breath (in meditation) to bring or infuse light into the area. By color I am referencing certain healing colors in the infusion just mentioned. Such things are taught in the meditation branch of the yoga I teach.

ah…ok, just making sure that I interpreted it correct:) I do that…it is a great meditation!

Still I’m looking for some other means to approach this hernia…I know there should be some remedies but surgery…
