Yoga/herbs/lifestyle for healthy sinus

Hello.

I hope that you’re all happy and at peace.

Would someone knowledgable kindly recommend a general remedy for one-sided sinus inflammation. The acute ache starts from behind the ears, runs through the length of the nose and continues to around the shoulder region.

What herbs and lifestyle (diet) changes can I make to prevent further manifestation? What Yoga asanas should I practise to open up the affected channels?

If you need more info, please ask.

All contributions appreciated.

Joyfulvoyager,
It seems to me that you are suffering from acute inflammation of one sided nasal passage which have spreaded to the eustachian tube (a passage between nostrills and ear). The condition can be caused by either allergy or some infection. I believe that (to start with and for first three to seven day or till acute pain and inflammation subsides), you should consult and take medicines from any of physicians such as Allopath or Homeopath or Ayurveda physician. Later on, for curing the problem and preventing it from recurring, you can practice

  1. Yoga cleansing methods like Jala Nethi and Tailam Nethi.
  2. Breathing techniques like Anuloma -Viloma (Nadi-shodhan)
  3. And asanas like Uttanapadasana, Utthita Trikonasana, Utthita Parivritta Trikonasana, Marichyasana, Vipritakarni or Setubandha Sarvangasana and Savasana.

Also check diet; determine if any foods are creating inflammation problems, wheat, dairy etc.

You may want to try a few supplements: bromelain (sublingual), quercetin, fish oil, niacian and more, Green tea.

Lots of sleep and insane amounts of clean water.

Sinus problems can be quite difficult and call for drastic measures perhaps use multiple prospects at first (trial and error) getting things under control, than back off one at a time see what is complimenting the healing.
