Question: how to “use” something that has been developed under certain conditions, when being located in a place where those conditions are not present?
That globalization thingy.
An example, perhaps not the best one:
“Brahma muhurta, approximately one and a half hours before sunrise, is recommended in all practices of yoga is considered most apt for meditation”, says Wikipedia. How would this apply to someone living at the latitude of the Arctic circle, going from polar days to polar nights as the seasons shift?
If Brahma muhurta is 1.5 hrs before sunrise, then that means that where I live it shifts by approximately 5 hrs depending on the season, as the longest day of the year lasts about 2.5 times longer than the shortest day. I guess I’m not wrong in thinking that very few would recommend adapting to these circumstances by shortening and lengthening ones actual day as the year passes?
I do understand that being super strict about muhurtas is not the most important part of ones practice, but I feel that the same question could be asked regarding practical solutions to Ayur Vedic recommendations on food, or any other matter, and am simply curious to know if anyone has some thoughts to share on this?
