Yoga music mix

Could anyone give me suggestions for music to use during an hour and a half yoga class?? I am not that tech savvy and I am trying to downloads songs. Not very successful in my endeavor. Just not the right mix :0/

Thanks

I am hopeless at making my own playlists…
I use various albums(on ipod) in my classes…Ocean of Dreams Vol 1., many Cafe Del Mar collections,Om lounge, Buddha Sounds…for more “traditional” Krishna Das…various Yoga Cds…
and try googling New World Kirtan…you can get free downloads…very nice but the first couple of mins Kitsy the voice actress from Oragon chats about her day…

One of my favorite songs to listen to in Shavasana is Devi Prayer by Craig Pruess. My yoga teacher and his wife are kirtan singers and have albums on itunes. You can find them under Govindas and Radha. I enjoy their music.

Thank so much. I am a new yoga teacher although I have been practicing yoga for more than 25 years. I am looking for music to enhance my class.

I will look into all of your suggestions!! :0)

I have been using pieces by Matthew C. Shuman in my Yoga group for the past couple months now. They fit my routines nearly perfectly and my class members consistently compliment my song selection. I downloaded his CDs from Amazon and iTunes, looks like there are hard copies available through his website.

I use ‘Slow flow music for yoga’, Yogi Hari Om, Namaste compilation album, Reiki Whale Song by Kamal and several custom mixes made by a friend of mine.

My yoga teacher plays Bliss by Yogini during relaxation - it’s beautiful, meditative music.

The longer I teach, the more I have mixed feelings about music during class. Depending on the music, it can be a distraction. So, choosing music can be like a beautifully choreographed ballet. I love playing the Gayatri Mantra or Chanting Om - extended version on the CD Meditation on the 7 Chakras.

On the other hand, I’ve gravitated more toward no music. Silence can be golden. Some of my best classes are with no music. So for me, it depends on the feel I get from my students whether I play music or not.

I am not a teacher but I tend to think music during yoga is a distraction from what I am trying to accomplish with yoga
