Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapy Certification Programs

I wanted to post these two sites for Yoga Forum members who are looking to complete Yoga trainings and for those who are looking for Yoga teachers and Yoga therapists to work with. I am not aware of a larger collection of Yoga practitioners than at these two sites. If someone has other directory type resources, please share them here too.

International Association of Yoga Therapists

Yoga Alliance

I have these on my site.

Neither link provides teachers in my region (Middle and East Europe).

Either people here are not interested to register, or simply yoga is just not yet part of societies here.

Hubert,
I think this is your chance. Could you create something to fill that need?
There must be other passionate people who would assist you.

where exactly?

I did check Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary.

I am from a small romanian province. In Romania, there is/was an organization, called The Movement of Integration into the Absolute (MISA, romanian acronym) where I had the first year of class. (hatha yoga) This was in 1991-92; that was not too far from the so called '89 “revolution”, when we became again a democratic republic.
There was a scandal in the media regarding MISA’s leader, Gregorian Bivolaru, so he had to flee the country.

Anyway, I am far from being able to start anything, I am not a extroverted person, I just want to practice. This is already a huge challenge. Thanks to the internet, I found these forums, and I am optimistic … and I am planning to visit yoga teachers abroad, once I feel ready.

PS. My interest in yoga was just recently re-awakened, so there might be independent teachers and schools in the bigger cities I am not aware of.

Hubert: I was in Sofia and Plovdiv, Bulgaria in late 2005 and there were posters in both cities advertising an Iyengar center. I don’t speak Bulgarian or read the Cyrillic alphabet, so I am sorry that I can’t offer your more info. I did take a picture of the poster (it was cool!) and could post it here if that would be helpful to you.

Unfortunately, I don’t speak (read) bulgarian.
But if there are such schools I’ll find them. I’ll check Budapest. Hungarian is not an issue.

Hello Hubert,

I did find these links for specifically romania and hungary:
Romania Yoga
[Budapest]Budapest Yoga](http://www.yogafinder.com/yoga.cfm?yogacity=Budapest&yogacountry=Hungary)

This is the parent link and will search for teachers, courses etc.
Yoga Finder

Other links for teachers & centers internationally
HealthandYoga.com

I live in the middle east so I know that it is not as easy to find yoga teachers/studios as it was in the U.S.

Hope that this is helpful.

Thank you lavina ! I somehow missed your reply.
I identified an internet site what I think belongs to the school I did follow a more than a decade ago. Hatha Yoga * Tantra Yoga * Meditation Music
If I am not mistaken, this school still have teachers in my city, but … I don’t feel comfortable with it’s tantric approach. (I did learn a lot from it, though)
Your Budapest links are great, I think I’ll focus my further search there.

By tantric I meant their sexual practices, as the above “school” puts great focus on this.
I feel aversion towards this. Now, this is not criticism, and I am not saying they are wrong. It is again an issue of mine.

I did not want to bring prejudice to the term of tantra, so I felt this must be cleared up.

It is wise to be discerning around that which identifies with the term “tantric” as there are many who have perverted tantra for their own purposes (vital nature).

Some of the so-called tantric teachings are not at all tantric. They are merely ridiculous excuses to play around.

Hello Nichole

After reading a couple of posts in this forum on the structural yoga Therapie I wonder if it is possible to learn more of it in Germany.
Since here I never heard about it, I would be greatfull for any Tips.

Thanks in advance

Patanjali Yoga Schule M?nster

Namaskar Lars,
I am not sure where you are in Germany, but I know that Mukunda has taught fairly regularly in Berlin in the past. This is his website Yogatherapycenter.org : : Welcome where he details all of his upcoming workshops and classes. I think his book is the best place to start and the title is, Structural Yoga Therapy: Adapting to the Individual. There are used and new copies available on Amazon.de. He also has a new book coming out this fall. I am unsure of the final title, but it is something like Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. We were doing much of this same work in our Structural Yoga Therapy program as well.

If you have any specific questions, please PM me or we can start a new thread and share it with the group. Also, let me know if you get the SYT book and I will try to get the pdf of the book’s corrections and updates to send to you.

Kind wishes,

Thanks Nichole
No I dont have the book but Ill order it soon.
I?ll take a look at mukundas website and find out if any of his seminars are close to me.
Since I`m located in the north west of Germany Berlin is almost 600 Km away of my home.
But still if there are no seminars closer to M?nster I migth go to Berlin.
All the best
Shanti
Lars

Here is a documentary by the Finnish telvision about the tantric and yogic cult and their franchises MISA and Natha, cults that revolve around the romanian born Gregorian Bivolaru!
