Yoga Teacher Par Excellence

Get acquainted with Nicki Doane, yoga teacher par excellence. One of her fans posted a whole series of her videos on Ashtanga beginner practice. Professional quality video, great setting, perfect model, well instructed (in my opinion), what more could you ask for? Even if you’re not into Ashtanga, she’s worth watching (and listening to) for the entertainment value.

Is she good for people just starting out or for the more advanced?

The series that I’m talking about is a beginner practice. If you can touch your toes you can get started. Even if you can’t, you just modify the practice until you can. Take a peek and see for yourself.

I’ve done close to three years of yoga classes, but was never told many of the things I learned in that interview. Very informative.

Where have you been doing yoga?!

Since people are apparently not finding this, here is the first video in the Ashtanga Yoga Beginner Series

I wonder if you might define two terms for me so that I may better understand your post? Those two terms are “choreography” and “instruction”.

You’re kidding, right?

Where did I use the term choreography? This is a basic sequence that was taught by Patabi Jois, and has probably been in use for a very long time. By instruction I meant her verbal descriptions of the movements she was demonstrating, among other things. This of course is limited by the fact that its just a video and not live instruction, but it’s a few steps up from the books people have been using.

By the way, this is only the first of seven clips in the series, and she takes a little time to get started, but the rest of the series is practice, practice, and more practice.
