Dear Kaycee,

What stands out from your post is your vision - “to create a community center for artist of all medias to come together to grow, experience, and create.”

My earnest wish is that you do not fall into the groove and take Yoga as the asana-meditation focus alone. For building a ‘community for selfless practice of co-creation through development of a sustainable artist space’ you will need to know yoga in its entirety, that touches several dimensions.

In the highly commercialized craze for yoga today there is no dearth of celebrities who will find it inconvenient to say that asanas (body postures) is a very limited edition of real yoga and any style is really only one magnified and branded aspect.

With this right perspective you will be able to invite various styles and introduce yoga as a whole eight-stage practice, without feeling shy about its deeper spiritual dimension as much as the physical and emotional.

  1. What type of yoga classes do you teach? and How long have you been teaching? (I teach Patanjali?s Yoga Sutra, the most authentic guidebook of theory and practice. I have left a professional career in IT six months back, to teach yoga that I have been practicing for 15+ years and have authored a path-breaking book ?The making of a Yoga Master?)

  2. How much do you charge per student? and how many students on
average per class? (Out-station 10-hours Workshop costs per student $120, minimum 10, workshops in Chicago costs per student $80, no minimum)

  3. Where do you currently host yoga classes? How much is rent and/or
what is your ideal rental rate? (At my own office space or at Tri-balance yoga studio; pay no rental.)

  4. What does your ideal yoga studio look like? (decor, room size,
flooring type, colors, music system etc.) Please provide as detailed
of a description as you wish, the more the better: (For me, a lecture set-up with upto 20 desks and video projector and microphone.)

  5. What are the essential tools and equipment need in a yoga studio?
How many of each? (Sorry, not for me.)

  6. Do you have regular students? Would you desire assistants with
promoting your classes? (Yes, I have regular batches. But, now with my intention to go full-time, would welcome any promotional help)

  7. Do you have insurance and legal waivers? or would your ideal space
provide these for you? (No need for me.)

  8. Please provide any additional comments, suggestions, dreams that
you feel may better help us: (My workshops help students (1) to develop a complete, authentic picture of yoga; (2) to evaluate own objectives and goals, (3) to understand yogic model of knowledge, thinking, intuition, creativity and universal connectivity, (4) to know all the practice paths to be able to decipher the appeal of various styles and techniques, (5) to learn the stages of progress on the yoga path and how to know them, and (6) how to connect with one?s soul if that is desired, independent of any religious strings.)

1-i teach whatever type of yoga that student wants to be taught
3- i charge 2- pounds for a private class or 6,50 in a group session
4-watford UK most rooms are about 10 pounds an hour to hire
5-good ventilation, heating, cooling coulors that don overstimulate, floors that dont creek, wooden floors that grip the yoga mats
6-equipment isnt really needed other than yoga mats which clients should have already purchased (cause purchasing a mat shows a comitment)
7-have a group of regulars 20 all in all
8-would be best if the place had insurance
9-it all about good advertising and keeping people motivated
