Yoga Therapy Program for

Dear friends,

I have to make 8 weeks yoga therapy program for particular condition.

Which medical condition do you think would be most popular in the US?

I do not really want to do a weight loss.

Thank you

I personally have colitis and it really puts a damper on me. Yoga seems to help me A LOT, I would LOVE it if there were an entire class dedicated to yoga for issues with the stomach.

Hi Citymonk
I have not been in the USA. But I could try to give you a suggestion. Try to do a program to give people energy. Something what makes them feel strong. After everybody could go to his or her dreams. I am not sure about the name of medical condition.
Take care
Ivana

From what I know about France and India, I can say that many people come to Yogatherapy because of back pain especially lower back pain which is a very common human body affection.

Thanks Ivana, your are absolutely right. And this would be the part of the program. We will work with all 5 koshas, nit just anamaja kosha (physical body).

The most popular would be bliss, the most common ailments may be:

Physically???lumbar discomfort
Psychologically???..emotional distress
Spiritually???asleep

From my teaching perspective it is lower back. This is the #1 complaint I get. Followed by neck and shoulders and as always, reducing anxiety and stress.

There are a few good books I’d like to recommend if I may:

Yoga Therapies by Jesse Chapman
Yoga RX by Larry Payne, Ph.D and Richard Usatine, M.D.

Both the above a very good and give sequences for common ailments.

As above, the number 1,2 and 3 conditions or requests at the studio I attend is tight shoulders, hips, and sore lower back. Most of this is due to the conditions in today’s working environment where we spend so much time seated in front of a computer screen, or seated driving cars. A lot of the tension is aggravated by a high level of stress.

A yoga routine that focuses on these 3 main areas - shoulders, hips, and lower back - would help open up these areas where the energy is blocked or kinked, and help relieve stress as well.

really very clear and I think accurate.

While asanas are beneficial for many ailments, pranayama helps a lot too:
