I am considering trying Yoga but several years ago i was in a bad car accident and my foot was torn most of the way off. A few surgeries later (and a year) i can walk but there is a lot of scar tissue and screws in my ankle. I have a limited range of motion. I can’t run anymore but i did learn to swim and do that every day. My question is would my ankle injury prevent me from getting anything out of yoga.
Directly to your question “no it would not”.
However if you are pursuing an interest in the physical practice of postures, which is a sliver of yoga, then it would be appropriate to look for teacher who is skilled in therapeutics. In this way the practice of asana could be crafted to the current nature of your body - including the ankle.
Walking in to a class branded as “yoga” with a teacher not trained/skilled in such areas AND expecting the student to properly self-modify would be an unreasonable expectation.

Agree with Gordon’s advice. This sounds like something appropriate for a private lesson with a teacher trained in yoga therapy (once your doc/PT gives you the OK).
