If I were to take direction from a fool, it would make me the bigger fool.
Asuri,
Even now - one is far more interested in editing the message to sound “good”, rather than functioning out of your own naturalness in the moment.
A flash of lightning never hesitates in it’s action, and without doing anything, all doing is done.
I have spoken enough about it. What is the purpose of continuing to speak together of something which you do not care for ? If you were interested in the subject, doing a bit of research on the matter would not have been such a problem. One would have been in fact ethusiastic to take matters into one’s own hands and look deeper into it.
Nope, you haven’t. I asked you to provide evidence for the claim you were making of Jesus being mentioned by Kashmiris, and you did not provide it. As I am not the one making the claim, but you are, then it is your burden of proof. That’s how it works in the real world my friend.
In fact dearest, I have already read all the articles on Jesus travelling to India and watched the documentary as well - and in the end found there was no evidence there. All these texts that talk about Isa are recent texts, there is no Kashmiri text during the life and times of Jesus that describes him. If there is provide the evidence to me, otherwise retract your claim
By the way that irrelavent picture you posted of your meditation cushion has spoiled the framing of my browser and it is cutting of the text. If you can, please edit your post and remove the picture. For somebody so enlightened you did not notice posting such a massive picture would spoil the frames of the thread Keep meditating son.
sometimes;)
Surya,
The zafu has been removed through some mysterious means, and things have settled by themselves once again.
Sticking to the thread, I can see that no-one here is enlightened!
The question is not, is everybody else enlightened, it’s are you enlightened? The question assumes that there is such a thing as an instantaneous flash that renders one “enlightened”, meaning what? That he knows everything about everything all the time? That’s not enlightenment, that’s omniscience. No, I’m not omniscient. Or does it mean that one is able to maintain a state of equanimity under all circumstances, and has no human failings? Under that definition, no I am not enlightened. I tend to get a little peeved at times, and definitely have my attachments, aversions, and obstacles to overcome. Or does it mean that one is able to maintain a state of “thoughtless awareness” at all times. Obviously I cannot be enlightened under that definition, because I am here expressing thoughts. Or does it mean that one has adopted a pompous manner of speaking and an attitude of superiority towards others? Then I hope I’m not enlightened. So I guess I am not enlightened, because I don’t even know what the word means.
I have a problem with people who tell me they are enlightened. If you are enlightened, then please explain o me what enlightenment means. If it’s something that cannot be expressed in words, then please shut up about it. If you claim to have some knowledge or power beyond what normal people have, you’re going to have to prove it, and giving sermons is no proof.
I know what you’re going to say, that one has come to an understanding and direct experience of his own true nature. Well, I think I have but it doesn’t make me “enlightened”.
"The question assumes that there is such a thing as an instantaneous flash that renders one “enlightened”
There is.
“Sticking to the thread, I can see that no-one here is enlightened!”
You have assumed that you are capable of recognizing one who has come to their awakening. To assume such a thing means that you yourself know what awakening is.
Unless you know it, how can you recognize it in another ?
Even if you happened to cross paths with him, unless you have come to your own Buddhahood, you would not be able to detect it’s fragrance.
“So I guess I am not enlightened, because I don’t even know what the word means”
Perhaps. Or perhaps one is just hiding behind a dangerous veil of humbleness.
“Buddhahood” and “enlightenment” are not synonymous.

In your humble opinion…

you are all so serious…I should have put a smiley…I was seeing a bickering and saw the funny side of the title of the thread…must I really explain this…

Perhaps one is…
If all you (as in all of you) want to do is speculate about the definition, semantics and/or linguistic particulars of the term “enlightment”, I would ask that you please take your speculations to the - most - appropriate thread (ie: “What is enlightenment”).
Understand: this simply is not the place to discuss the definition, as it is defined in terms of a test - it is not a matter of debate, therefore. If you want me to make clarifications, then just ask for them instead of arguing amongst each other about assumed meanings.
Surely, this is reasonable?
Thanks for your time.
“Understand: this simply is not the place to discuss the definition”
There can be no definition.
“Buddhahood” and “enlightenment” are not synonymous."
Those words will mean whatever you want them to mean.
Yogimat, you still have not told us what your credentials are to test for enlightenment.
Like everywhere else in the universe, my state of enlightenment is always in flux. Sometimes I am to such a degree as to surprise myself and scorch those nearby. Other times I am less so.
