How can you know the truth about yourself?

How can you make a true evaluation?

You see it.

It dawns on you.

It makes sense.

you go.

Oh…

HA!!!

Wow excellent question. Here is my yoga teacher’s answer “Who are we? Why are we here? What are we doing… to do?” Let us celebrate these secrets we were born with by developing our minds and bodies and always being ready for their unfolding…

Earthy,

Truth is not something to be evaluated, but something to be lived. Neither is it something that you can grasp into your fist, it is the very stuff that you are made of. To try and grasp it is like trying to contain the whole ocean into your fist, or a mirror trying to reflect itself. The very fact that you are asking how you can know the truth of your own being shows that you have yet to realize it. Otherwise, when the awakening happens, it will be as clear as daylight.

@kareng

LOL. Good answer.

Go past beyond the recurring patterns and distinctions in your life. Once you do, it’ll be revealed to you. Greeks say this, aletheia

You are creating the truth about your self.

Knowing the truth about your past? Well, you just have to remember.

Remember that remembering is remembering through your baselines, paridigms, results, emotions and passions. There are truths, but I often feel that the biggest truths, are the lies best persuaded.

I have more questions than answers, I have more desires then fulfillment, this is life and what makes it so infinitely wonderful and challenging. Ironically Yoga is more about quieting the mind then cluttering it with conceptual nonsense, though my goal maybe simplicity I have sometimes complicated the path. I feel yoga is a well proven system to help experience truth.

There are two ways

 1. Self inquiry: We did one of those recently in the thread, “An inquiry into the nature of the soul”
 2. Meditation: Sit, close your eyes, watch your mind like a specatator.

The former will give you intellectual knowledge that you can then apply in your life. The latter will give you experiential knowledge which will expand your life.

Thread: How can you know the truth about yourself?

Question: How can you make a true evaluation?

There are errors of construction here. What are we looking at “Knowing the truth” or “Making true Evaluation”? Or is it implied that ‘evaluation’ will reveal ‘the truth’? (If yes, Amir has rightly addressed it.)

Process of knowing involves only one perceiver, which evolves from “I” to “Pure Consciousness”, a transformation brought about by self-realization. In the end, the knower, the process of knowing and the field of knowledge merge into one to give us One Absolute Truth about oneself.

But, evaluation would always remain dualistic and thought-based and hence, would deliver relative truth that is subjective. In a self-realized mode, any truth that is valid for the time-being will be superseded by a ‘greater’ truth. Such expanding and deepening ‘greater’ truth would inevitably not remain confined to “oneself”. At that level, truth about oneself is not different from truth about the Universe and truth about an atom/ particle.

Hence, knowing about oneself is a process concurrent to knowing about the Universe. Both are mutually dependent.

This tells me you haven’t seen yourself.

and

This is incorrect statement number 54 by you. Not that I’m keeping tabs. The figure 54 is something I pulled out of thin air, but if I had to guess the figure wouldn’t be far off.

Actually now that I let it come to me

whats your post count?

The 300s.

Edit: Whoa 400.
54 then is low ball. Way low ball.

Master of the obvious.

The very nature of man is such, that it is very natural to overlook the obvious.

Duh, why would he be asking, “How can you know yourself” if he already knew who he was.

Master of bs more like it.

“Duh, why would he be asking, “How can you know yourself” if he already knew who he was.”

You have looked into the words of the question, but have not looked into the spirit of how the question is asked. And how a question is asked, with what intention, is not separate from the question itself - although it remains hidden and unspoken.

Rather than asking for a prepared model of what to do, which is simply rooted in the attachment to an outcome, one should dissolve that idea completely. Only then is there a possibility of an authentic inquiry. Nor is the inquiry a mere intellectual inquiy, but it requires you to come to know of direct self-observation which is rooted in living experience from moment to moment.

I really can’t believe this stuff is legit?

It’s gotta be like some sort of performance art or something? Right?

Like Banksy, or Joaquin Phoniex acting like a fruit loop.

It’s not real is it? Come on! Fess up.
You can’t be serious with this stuff. It has to be a joke.

“It’s gotta be like some sort of performance art or something?”

What is performance art are your attention seeking tendencies which are so far almost inexhaustible.

Can I ask, why are you guys always having a go at Amir?
