Shifting of navel center

I suffer from this problem. I have repeated tried in succession uttanapada, dhanur, chakra & matsya as recommended by swami Dhirendra Brahmachari but it has not worked. I think his advice applies when the centre shifts down leading to loose motions. Then it stops it immediately.
If the center has shifted upwards resulting in constipation /anxiety the same asanas do not work as a cursory examination of the above postures reveal that all of them pull the abdomen muscles upwards. Hence there must be different asanas to bring it down in case it has shifted upwards.
Can any one throw more light on this subject?

I’m sure we would all be delighted to engage this topic with you. If you desire that, perhaps you would kindly tell us of the problem rather than the solution which is currently not working.

You mention “I suffer from this problem”, what problem please?

Are you working directly with the teacher you mention?

The problem is constipation & anxiety when the center shifts upwards.
I am working with a Yoga Therapist who is also an ayurveda doctor but we don’t know the exact asanas to be performed. we are trying several but so far I have not succeeded.

Okay, half the puzzle now together. Center of what please?
Center of the torso? Center of the belly? Center of gravity?

And you do realize how confusing it is to hear “yoga therapist” and “we do not know which asanas to use”, right?

They call it Nabhchakra or navel center.There is a discussion on this in Swami Dhirendra Brahmachari’s book 'yogic suksham vyayam;
It is also called Solar Plexus. If you go to google and type solarplexus you will get all the information. It is believed to exist around in the navel button.
Also called the inner brain.Believed to control digestion & emotion.
If you can get any useful information it will greatly help

Run dear, run, do you realise how scary this looks here? My advice find another therapist/doctor immediately!

I know it is some what puzzling as many Ayurveda and Yoga Therapists are not aware of this. It was discovered in India but sadly the knowledge has disappeared. A couple of pages are devoted in the book ;Health in Your Hands’ by Devendra Vora. There was an article on the subject in the Yoga Magazine published in USA.(not available in India) Infact USA yoga teachers practice this healing also called solarplexes chakra healing. Acupuncture methods are also available. It is supposed to be a part of Ayurveda but I am still looking for some authority on this subject.
Please don’t give flippant answers.I am in no mood to take it.

Apologies for giving good advice in a flippant manner.

arhari … any luck in finding a fix

do share if you do … i am based in Delhi and would be glad to know if any “aurthority” exists on the matter on this side

they also call it: “shifting of navel/nabhi”, “displacement of nabhi/solar plexus”

if not in luck with yoga therapists then may be you can try - in any mosque - a Maulvi or some senior member - they may fix it themselves or direct you to someone

Isn’t the solar plexus actually a lot higher positioned than the navel button ?

There is a M.B.B.S. qualified doctor in Noida who practices Nabhi therapy.
His name is Dr.Jain. He has a web site. You can search Google after typing his name and word yoga. Some how this forum says I cannot post a URL address so I can’t. give you the same. He can help you as you are in Delhi. You will also be in safe hands as he is a qualified allopathic doctor.I hope this information will help and I wish you a speedy cure.

This is regarding message of Mr.Hubert. The location of solar plexus is not important. It is more to do with chakras. Nabhi is actually the belley button and supposed to have a neverve center which is prone to shift. You can find more information in Swami Ramdev’s websites.

Regarding Mr.Hubert’s question. Nabhi is supposed to be the belly button and has a nerve complex which is prone to shift. This is a physical disease. Information on Chakras may not apply here.

I am told that Surya namaskar align the Navel.
I had same problem. However with regular SUrya namaskar I am able to align my Navel.

Hi I have not read any of the other comments, but the fire breath will help with the problem you have. It works with your navel Chakra also known as the sensation centre, spleen chakra, Hara. If this chakra is blocked you get constipated, greedy, have alot of negativity around you. Hope this helps.

arhari

thanks for your reply - but i could not really locate Dr.Jain on google.
if you can mail me please on: bhagat230@yahoo.in ?

and where are you based ??? i had spoken to a gentleman based in Madhya Pradesh. let me know if you may need his contact details.

arhari … sorry about it !!!
it didn’t know it displayed the location.

being in bangalore you can try calling up the ayurveda centres to know if they well-known with the problem. there should be a few with kerala so much in vicinity. you can also try the kottakkal branches to ask about it

hope it helps

Here is a Tai Chi exercise that will help with energy centering.

Preparation:
Stand in the mountain (tadasana) (with feet comfortably apart.)
Your knees should be ever-so-slightly bent, so that you are standing relaxedly, and your shoulders should be back, without being too far back.

(This position is a foundational yoga asana, and you should have learnt it, and you should know the correct feeling.)

Exercise one "embracing the moon"
Part 1:
Lightly touch you fingertips in front of your loins with your elbows bent, so that your arms form an arc, the curve running from your elbows through your curved wrists and hands.
Now raise your hands - keeping them in this position - until they are in front of your chest. There should be a near-circle formed by your arms, and through your back. (Hence “embracing the moon”.)

Now focus on your chi flowing vertically through your chakras, and think each of your chakras radiating into the “moon” cylinder, starting from the base, and continuing up, until each energy center feels radiant.
You SHOULD feel your energy centers righting themselves, and you may find yourself adjusting your posture slightly as your chi comes back into alignment.

Do not fight the aligning of your chi. You may feel your energy centers are not exactly where you expect them to be, or where you think they should be. That is okay. Let your chi find its centers.

Part 2:
Lift your hands from there horizontal position up over your head. You should feel your hands align with your seven chakras. If they do not, there is possibly something wrong with your posture. There shouldn’t be, as your chakras should have aligned in step one.

To finish, bring your hands down in an outward motion.

I have found that this has helped me. When done correctly, your entire body will have a sense of tranquility.
While Tai Chi is not strictly yoga, I have found it augmented my asanas remarkably well.

There are other Tai Chi exercises, but this one should address the problem you are referring to.

I hope that helps.

An ayurvedic doctor might not a yoga posture…since he gives medicine and not teach you the asanas. you should contact a yoga instructor.
